Watertown Moravian Church
EASTER!
Sunday, April 4
New life is ready to burst already this spring. With the warm weather in southern
Wisconsin and spring flowers ready to bloom bringing color back into nature, what a
grand time to celebrate the new life our Risen Lord and Savior bring to us each and
every day.
To prepare our hearts and minds for the celebration of our Lord’s resurrection it is
fitting to attend as many worship opportunities as possible. Holy Week Readings – the
compilation of the Gospel accounts of our Lord’s last week of life before the crucifixion
– will be at Bethany Chapel at Marquardt Village, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday
evenings at 6:30 p.m.
Maundy Thursday: You are invited to The Lord’s Supper as we recall the Last
Supper Jesus had with his Disciples in the Upper Room where He took the symbols of
the Jewish Passover meal and gave them new meaning in the Bread and the Wine, His
gift of grace and new life to us. The choir will also sing. Worship will be at 6:30 p.m. at
our church.
Good Friday: There will be two opportunities to worship on Good Friday. The
ecumenical worship will be at St. Paul Episcopal Church at 1:15 p.m. St. Paul is
located 413 S. 2nd Street.
There will be a Tenebrae service – a service of lights and readings – at our church
at 7 pm. This worship will be an accounting of our Lord’s final words from the cross.
As His life diminishes, the lights of the sanctuary and the flames of the candles will be
extinguished. There will be no benediction and everyone will leave in silence in the
darkness.
On Saturday, April 3, the Easter Band will practice at 10 a.m. At the same time the
confirmation class members, and anyone else who would be willing to help, will set up
tables and chairs, wrap silverware, place salt/pepper shakers on the tables, ready the
serving tables, and so on. Can you help?
EASTER Sunday . . .
Cemetery 6:15 a.m. worship
Breakfast 7:00 a.m. at church
Worship 8:00 a.m.
Breakfast Clean-up 9:00 a.m.
Worship 10:15 a.m.
NOTE: Rather than move the 8 a.m. worship back the Christian Education
Committee decided to leave the clean-up until after the 8 a.m. worship. Then we would
like as many folks as possible to help with clean-up.
Breakfast Menu: Arno’s fried potatoes, scrambled eggs, sausage (instead of ham
this year), pancakes, and fruit.
Invite friends and neighbors to join us at the cemetery this year, and then come to
the church for breakfast. It’s an event that so many of us anticipate with great joy!
